EPI Spec File CD

This CD was developed by Fred P. Rohe using Microsoft Front Page, Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0, and Microsoft PowerPoint.  Best viewed at 800 x 600 resolution.

You can create a desk top short cut to the opening menu by right clicking and dragging AutoMenu.exe from the AutoMenu directory to your desk top, then select create shortcut here.

The program assumes your CD ROM reader is drive D:   If your CD ROM is designated a different drive letter, some files may not load correctly.

If you have problems viewing the MPEG videos, you may need to download Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 or download the media enhancements for Microsoft Internet Explorer.

MPEG Videos are programmed to run with Windows Media Player.  If you still have problems viewing the videos in your browser, try using Media Player to open the videos in the \epi\video directory.

The EPI Welcome Video is a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation.  You may need to install Microsoft PowerPoint Viewer on your computer.  The viewer is located on the EPI Spec File CD-ROM in the directory PPview97.  Go to this directory, double click the PPview97.exe file to begin installation of the software.

Viewing the presentation from the AutoMenu will be full screen.  Use Escape to cancel the presentation.  Viewing the presentation from the browser menu will show the presentation within your browser.  Use the Back button to exit the presentation.

This PowerPoint Viewer will work with Microsoft Windows 95 and Microsoft Windows 97.   Microsoft(r) PowerPoint Viewer 97 will not run on Windows 3.1.   Windows 3.1 users should instead install PowerPoint Viewer for Windows 3.1. PowerPoint Viewer for Windows 3.1 is available online as a self-extracting executable file (PptVw16.exe) at any of the following locations:
* Microsoft's World Wide Web site on the Internet: On the www.microsoft.com home page, click the Support icon. Then click Knowledge Base, and select the product and search for articles that contain the text "PptVw16.exe". The articles will contain hyperlinks so you can download the file.

Viewing presentations within Netscape Navigator:
In order to view PowerPoint presentations (EPI Welcome Video) within the Netscape Navigator browser window you must install the ActiveX plug-in for Netscape Navigator (versions 2.x or higher). You can download and install this plug-in from the following Internet address: http://www.microsoft.com/powerpoint/internet/viewer/
Note: There are known problems when this plug-in is used with Internet Explorer and earlier versions of Office applications. Do not install this plug-in if you are using, or plan to use, Internet Explorer and Office 4.x or Office 95 applications.

Some computers that run at less than 133 MHz may have difficulty viewing videos.   Also, older CD readers may have to be set to "no read ahead" in order to view videos.

Thanks to Mr. Dan Rohe for developing the EPI Internet Home Page which was the basis for this CD.

Thanks to Mr. Mark Wolschon for scanning and assembling the technical papers, and for his technical assistance developing this CD.

Thanks to Ms. Tammy Albright for scanning photos and assembling technical papers, and for supporting Fred and Mark throughout the three month development of this CD.
